Lucy L. Sanchez Obituary
Mrs. Lucy L. Sanchez, 90, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012. She was surrounded by her family as she walked into the arms of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Mrs. Sanchez was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Antonio, in February 1987; her son Andy Louis in May 1959; her son Eddie in November 1973; her sisters Teresita Luna and Nina Montano; and Brother Tomas Luna.
She was born in 1921 to Felimina and Thomas Luna in Tularosa, where she lived most of her life.
Mrs. Sanchez is survived by her children Tony (Carolyn), Alfonso (Carmen), Danny (Donna), Anna Henley (Bill) and Andy (April); grandchildren Tommy, Angela Johnson, Tony and Joey, Charity, Gina and Martin, Tommy Diaz, Deanna Herrera and Danny, April Carrell, Jack and Starlin Henley, Eric, Missy, Gary and Drena, as well as 25 great-grandchildren and three little angels on the way; sister Stella Torrez, of Sacramento, Calif.; brother Gilbert Luna, of Las Cruces; and several nephews and nieces.
""Grama"" will be missed for her faith and the gentle way in which she instilled our Lord and his ways in everyone she touched. She was ""Little Grama Extraordinaire.""
She was so tiny, yet so stern. Her entire married life she was a homemaker. She raised seven wonderful children who epitomize and share with their individual families the faith she and her husband raised their children with.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters.
The holy rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, by Mrs. Cecilia Garcia and Mrs. Vivian Lueras.
Music will be provided by the angelic voices of the St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church Choir. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, with Father Max Hottel as celebrant.
Family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. before the rosary.
Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery.
The Sanchez family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral arrangements.
