1931 - 2015 Obituary Condolences

Lyn Brooks, 84, a resident of Alamogordo passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours of Thursday, July 16th. She was born January 14, 1931 in Portsmouth, Ohio, the first daughter of A.D. and Mary Roberts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Brooks, who died August 4, 2012.

Lyn worked as the secretary to Evangelist Ford Philpot, in Lexington, Kentucky before owning her own singing telegram company in Lexington. She loved living in Alamogordo, where she recently began a meditation group that was featured in the Alamogordo Daily News.

She is survived by her children: Alex Stone, Winter Park, FL, Mark Wyatt, Frenchburg, KY, Steve Wyatt, Versailles, KY, Roxanne Richardson, Tularosa, NM, and Heather Richardson, Alamogordo, NM.; two daughters-in-law, Jennifer Wyatt, Versailles, KY and Cynthia Stone, Winter Park, FL; 6 loving grandchildren; 7 precious great-grandchildren; and 2 cherished sisters, Dallas Huth, Langley, WA, and Kym Ingram, Nicholasville, KY.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Latta, Prestonsburg, KY.

Lyn loved to write, read, play bridge, keep in touch with friends and family, and tend a garden full of flowers, to name a few. Throughout her life she maintained a deep, abiding faith, and sweet demeanor based on blessing and gratitude. She possessed a gentle smile, quiet sense of humor, and genuine care that will never be forgotten.

The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from far too many people to name individually. Those who will be attending the service are invited to say a few words if they wish to do so.

A Celebration of Life service for Lyn , will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, July 22, at 10 a.m., at the Alamogordo Funeral Home, 2301 East First Street.

Her ashes will be scattered in Kentucky on her son's mountain property near the Red River Gorge, Sunday morning, August 2nd at sunrise.
