Magdalena Montoya Obituary
Magdalena Montoya, 89, peacefully passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012, at home in Alamogordo after a brief illness. She was born July 22, 1922, in Clint, Texas.
Survivors include her daughter Mary Leon; grandchildren Joie Flores, Gabriel Leon, Dani Alpers and husband, Doug, Jennifer Gonzales and husband, Tony, Adell and Aaliya Guerra, and Bronson and Armando Montoya; great-granddaughter Melissa Cepeda; and Johnny Guinn, companion of Mary, who became dear to Magdalena as a good friend and caring person. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews too numerous to mention who were very dear to her heart.
She held a special place in her heart for each and every one, as well as very dear niece Dora Alvarez and husband, David, who traveled many times and miles to visit her "Aunt Mary."
She was preceded in death by her husband, Miguel "Gile"; sons Joe "Pepito," Bobby, and Armando Montoya; a much beloved granddaughter, Isabel Flores; all her siblings; and her parents.
Magdalena and her husband owned and operated Jiffy Grocery for many years until their retirement in the early 1990s. She was a hard worker and a strong lady up until the time of her passing. She was just tired and wanted to be with all her family up in the heavens - family so dear to her heart. She will be greatly missed by those who were closest to her up to the end.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012, at the Alamogordo Funeral Home chapel with Father Juan Montoya officiating. The rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. before the memorial by Mrs. Linda Villabisencio.
Private inurnment will take place at a later date. No graveside services are planned.
The Leon, Flores and Montoya families have entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
Cremation will take place at PCS.
