Manuel Antonio "‘Manny’" Rodriguez Obituary
On Sunday, April 14, 2013, "Manny" left planet Earth to soar the heavens from above. Manny passed away at his home in Bent surrounded by the his family and cherished friends.
Manny was preceded in death by both of his parents, Gonzalo Rodriguez and Susanna Hernandez.
Survivors include his wife, Esther Gomez Rodriguez; son Manny Rodriguez and his wife, Yvonne, and their son Paul Rodriguez and stepson Sergio Romero; daughter Yvonne Rodriguez-Bernino and her husband, David, and their children Anthony and Isabella Bernino; son Tony Rodriguez and his wife, Summer, their children Christian, Iris, Vivian, Dakota, Journie and Anthony; brother Gumercindo Rodriguez, of Casa Grande, Ariz.; and has many cousins throughout the state of New Mexico.
He was an adored uncle and a great friend to everyone.
Manny was a one-of-a-kind individual. He was a hard worker, played hard and partied hard. He retired from U.S. West in 1995 and served on the Tularosa School Board from 1991-2003. During his tenure, he helped accomplish many positive projects for the Tularosa School District, where all his children and grandchildren attended.
Manny's life was full of adventure from beginning to end. He always left a lasting impression on those lives he touched.
Manny was a the life of the party and had many God-given talents. He was an amazing watercolor artist, sculpture, carver, silversmith, and leather craftsman. His greatest masterpiece is the monumental adobe home he built with the help of his wife, children, family and lifelong friends.
Manny was a really giving person and loved sharing his artistic creations with his beloved family and friends, leaving us all with truly original and unique gifts to treasure for a lifetime.
A celebration of Manny's life will begin with a rosary at the Alamogordo Funeral Home at 5 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013. Mass will be Saturday, April 20, 2013, at St. Joseph Mission in Mescalero at noon. A reception will follow at the Rodriguez home in Bent.
A memorial garden will be planted in his honor. In lieu of flowers, living rose bushes, plants or trees would be lovingly accepted.
