Manuel B. Renteria Obituary
Manuel B. Renteria peacefully went to the Lord on March 25, 2018, at the age of 90. He was born in Safford, Arizona on January 21, 1928 to Melchor and Maria Renteria. Manuel retired from the United States Army in 1968 as a Master Sergeant and settled in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was then employed with Jack Johnson Excavating as a second career.
Manuel enjoyed acquiring Bavarian antiques and historical artifacts from the Southwest, but his greatest joy came from collecting vintage automobiles. A man of great conviction who enjoyed his family and friends; his strengths were founded in his faith, work-ethic and a healthy dose of stubbornness.
Manuel is survived by his wife Josefa Renteria; his children Olivia, Manuel, Roman, and Donna; his siblings Ernesto, Mio, Rueben, Chona and Olivia; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Alamogordo Funeral Home on 1st Street at 11:00 a.m. on the 3rd of April, followed by a graveside service at Monte Vista Cemetery also on 1st Street with a reception to follow. Pastor Anthony Torres will do the honor of officiating. Manuel Renteria, Roman Renteria, Jack Johnson, Vincent Lacsamana, Evan Renteria and Joseph Renteria will serve as pallbearers.
The family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services. To sign the online register book, please visit
