Manuel Macias Malone Obituary

Manuel Macias Malone, 88, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, July 19th, 2015 at his residence in Alamogordo.
He was born on June 15, 1927 in Alamogordo to Cornelio and Maria (Macias) Melon.

Manuel was a lifetime resident of Alamogordo and was retired from Civil Service and the City of Alamogordo.
Manuel proudly served his country in the U.S. Army 128th Infantry Regiment. He fought in World War II and was awarded the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with the Bronze Star, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Army of Occupation Medal. Staff Sergeant Manuel Malone was honorably discharged on July 13, 1946.
In his retirement years Manuel enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed telling them stories of his childhood and the adventures that he and his brothers shared growing up. He also spent countless hours tending to his yard especially his pecan and apricot trees. It gave him great pleasure at the number of people that would stop by and visit with him, as well as helping him pick fruit and pecans.

Survivors include his daughters Dorothy Malone Valdez and Virginia Malone of Alamogordo, son Manuel J. Malone Jr. of Carlisle, Ohio, 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and brothers Louis and Edward Malone of Alamogordo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carmen V. Malone; son, Sammy Ray Malone; 5 brothers and 4 sisters.

Rosary will be recited at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday July 23, 2015 at St. Jude's Parish. Mass will be celebrated following the Rosary at 10:00 a.m. with Father Tom Huffman, S.J. Celebrant.

The Malone family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place locally at PCS and a private burial will be held at a later date.
