Margie (Riach) Mowell

1928 - 2008 Obituary Condolences
Margie Mowell, 80, passed away Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, in Las Cruces surrounded by her husband and daughters. She was born July 28, 1928, in Patterson, N.J., to Ruth and Francis Riach.
Margie met Jim Mowell, her husband of 62 years, in 1946 at her home. Jim was in the Army in WWII, coming up from Texas and stationed at Fort Monmouth, N.J. It was love at first sight and they married Sept. 15, 1946. Their four daughters, Pat Trautman, Gail McCutcheon, Sharon Brock and Debbie Dean, were born soon after that and many years later a son, Jamie, who died in 1978.
The Mowells lived and raised their family in New Jersey for 20 years before moving west to Tucson, Ariz., where Jim was a Farmers agent and Margie was an artist and homemaker. Margie displayed her art in galleries in Tucson, at art shows, the Pima County Fair and juried shows. Her art was a passion from a young age and she did beautiful Southwest scenes.
Margie was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and her family and devoted herself to their care. About 15 years ago, Margie and Jim moved to Alamogordo to be near their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Francis Riach, and her son, Jamie Mowell.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Mowell; her children, Pat Trautman and husband, Fred, Gail McCutcheon and husband, Ted, Sharon Brock and husband, Jack, and Debbie Dean and husband, Joe; and her sister, Fay Lacey, of Pocatello, Idaho; 13 grandchildren, Tim Brock, Meghan Isaacs, Bonnie Lucero, Drew Nelson, Teddy McCutcheon, Shane Dean, Morgan Dean and Kattie Dean, all of Alamogordo, Kristie Davis, of Las Cruces, Peter Trautman, of Pasadena, Calif., Jaclyn Poling and Melissa Sallee, of Phoenix, and Jenny Dean, of Tucson; and seven great-grandchildren, Keith and Jacob Davis, Tatum and Khyler Isaacs, Kiersten Lucero, and Kylie and Lexie Nelson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at Christ Community Church with pastors Jack Brock and Tim Brock, and Greg Isaacs officiating. Interment will be at White Dove of the Desert Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Fred Trautman, Ted McCutcheon, Joe Dean, Pete Trautman, Shane Dean and Teddy McCutcheon. Honorary pallbearers are Eric Lucero, Wally Nelson, Danny Sallee and Jason Poling.
The family asks that memorial donations be made to Christ Community Church Mission Fund, P.O. Box 2975, Alamogordo, NM 88311.
The Mowell family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
