Maria Alicia Telles Tompkins, 64, of Alamogordo and Roy, passed away April 5, 2015, at her home in Alamogordo, surrounded by family.

Funeral service will be held at Immaculate Conception Church on April 24, 2015. The rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. and her celebration of life mass will take place at 10 a.m. Burial of both Roger William Tompkins and Maria Alicia Telles Tompkins will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery. A meal will be served at the Knights of Columbus Hall following the burial. The family is handling the funeral arrangements.

Alicia was born on Aug. 5, 1950, in Alamogordo, to Adolpho and Julia Telles. She attended Father James B. Hay Catholic School and Alamogordo High School. She graduated in 1968. Alicia attended New Mexico State University and earned an associate's degree in secretarial administration and a bachelor of science in secondary business education.
While working for the Twelfth Judicial District Court, she met her future husband, Roger W. Tompkins whom she married on May 5, 1979.

After the birth of their first child in 1980, Alicia and Roger decided that she would be a homemaker and stay home with their children while Roger continued to work for the New Mexico State Police until his retirement in 1991.

Maria Alicia Telles Tompkins is preceded in death by the love of her life Roger William Tompkins and by her beautiful parents Adolpho and Julia Telles.

Alicia is survived by her three daughters Christina, Katherine and Jennifer; and her son, Jonathan Tompkins; her three sisters Donna (Freddie) Pacheco, Sylvia (Mike) Walker and Stella Bracamonte, and two brothers Adolpho (Debbie) Telles and Steve (Liz) Telles. She is also survived by ten grandchildren Destiny Martinez, Hunter Scott, Laney Scott, Samson Auer, Riley Hobson, Lauren Oberlander, Aiden Oberlander, Zoey Tompkins, Lily Gonzales and Elizabeth Gonzales.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Alamogordo Home Care and Hospice staff for their wonderful support in her final days.
