Memorial services for Marianne Braun, age 83, of Albert Lea, Minn., will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Chapel in Albert Lea. Brandon Krosch will officiate. Private interment will be at Graceland Cemetery, also in Albert Lea. Friends may greet the family at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home one hour prior to the service. Marianne died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at her daughter's home after a recent diagnosis of cancer.
Marianne S. Braun was born Nov. 16, 1924, to Johann and Sibylla Clever in Bad Godesberg, Germany.  She was united in marriage to George Knutson on Jan. 31, 1953, in Bad Godesberg. Marianne immigrated to the United States in 1953, whereupon she became a farm wife near Bricelyn, Minn. During their farming years, their daughter Soraya was born. A move was made to Albert Lea in 1956. Over the years, she was employed at Sears, Montgomery Ward and Scotsman. Marianne was united in marriage to David Braun on Feb. 20, 1988. She and Dave enjoyed traveling and, upon retiring, wintering in Alamogordo. After Dave's death, she made her home in Alamogordo, where she lived until becoming ill.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Soraya and David Cornick; grandchildren Jenna Cornick, Shiloh (Michael) Foster, Ebony (Brandon) Krosch and Bryant Cornick; great-granddaughters Isabella Marianne Foster, Maya Jo Foster and Noelle CareyAnn Krosch; and nephew Jacques (Petra) Clever.
Marianne was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Hans, Gottfried and Ewald; sisters-in-law Gerda and Inge; and second husband, David Braun.
Memorials are preferred to the Alameda Park Zoo.
