Marlin G. Wienand Obituary

Marlin G. Wienand passed away of natural causes on August 24, 2016, in Alamogordo, N.M., he was 85 years old. Marlin was born in Salem, S.D., to Joseph and Elsie Bruhn Wienand on August 14, 1931. He was an Army veteran and served in Germany in 1955 – '56.

Marlin moved his family to Alamogordo in 1968, from Wichita, Kan., while working with the Boeing Company. He then worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Holloman AFB and was employed by construction companies as a quality control manager before finally retiring in 2001.

He was active with the local Moose Lodge 2016 and served as Governor three times.
Marlin was an avid outdoorsman. He hunted, fished and was lucky to bag an Oryx during a special hunt at White Sands Missile Range in the early 1990's.

Survivors include his wife, Dixie Wienand; his children Joe (Susan) Wienand of Conifer, Colo., Marcus (Louise) Wienand of Tularosa, N.M., and Debra Wienand of Bloomington, Minn.; and two grandsons Dustin Wienand of Wichita Falls, Texas and Cody Wienand of Alamogordo, N.M.

The family wishes to thank the employees and staff of Casa Arena Blanca Nursing Center for their TLC during Marlin's last few months.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Alamogordo, with Pastor Kristi Koppel officiating.
