Mary Christmas, 72, of Las Cruces, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008. She was born Dec. 10, 1935, in Columbus, Ga., to Marion and Vera Davis Thomas. She, along with her late husband, owned and operated B&W Transfer Moving and Storage. Mary was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints Venus Chapel. She liked collecting acorns and making quilts, but mostly she loved to be around and talk with people and share stories, and she truly had an art for making people laugh. But her passion was for her wonderful family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary is survived by her three children, Lee Christmas and wife Chrystal of Las Cruces, Joe Christmas and wife Darlene of Columbus, Georgia and Sofia Christmas of Ruidoso; brothers and sisters Kenneth Whitton and wife Shirley, Jack Whitton and wife Carolyn, and Jean Ingram, all of Columbus; grandchildren Hunter, Sterling, Spencer, Tommy and Melanie; two great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding her in death were her loving husband Edward Christmas and her parents.
Funeral services to celebrate her life will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints Venus Chapel with Bishop Bodie Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be members of Mary's family.
In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Special Olympics or The Salvation Army.
