Mary Ellen Simpson Grogan-Younger Obituary
Mary Ellen Simpson Grogan-Younger passed away Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, from an abdominal aortic aneurysm.
She was born in Texas on Aug. 17, 1925, to Wallace and Anna Lou (Fore) Simpson. She had four brothers, John, Clyde, Wayne and Paul, and one sister, Evelyn.
Mary married Bob Grogan and had two sons, Vernon and Butch, and two daughters, Ann and Nita. She married Larry Younger in 1954 and had three more children, Debbie, Larry and Roger. They raised their family in Carson, Calif., for 39 years before moving to Tularosa. Mary had 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, many loving nieces and nephews, in-laws and friends.
Mary was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene. Her walk with the Lord was the most important part of her life. She enjoyed telling stories of all the wonderful things Jesus had done for her, and letting others know they, too, could enjoy the experience of knowing Jesus.
Her husband, Larry, was the love of her life and she often spoke of how happy she would be when she was finally reunited with him, as well as her two brothers, sister, daughter and two grandchildren in heaven. The love between Larry and Mary was special. Anyone who knew them could feel it.
We know she would like to say goodbye to all for now. Thank you for your love and friendship that she felt from all who were blessed to know her.
Viewing will be conducted from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21, 2009. Services will follow at 2 p.m., with Pastor Ken Timblin officiating. The viewing and services will be conducted at the Church of the Nazarene, 501 Higuera Ave., in Tularosa. A gathering of friends and family to celebrate Mary's life will be conducted immediately after services at the family home in Tularosa.
The family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
