Mary Helen Novak Obituary
Mary Helen Novak, 79, longtime resident of Alamogordo, was released into the arms of Jesus December 22, 2016.

Funeral Mass and internment will be held at St. Jude Parish, 1404 College Ave on January 3rd at 11 AM. All are invited to pray the Rosary with the St. Jude Rosary Society and the family at 10:15 AM.

Mary Helen was born May 5, 1937 to Alfred Hugo Stone and Erminia Douglas Stone in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

She graduated from the The Ursuline Convent School in Bridgetown, Barbados, and subsequently worked in Port of Spain, Trinidad, where she met her husband of 58 years, Dan Novak. She was proudly British, quick to tell you she was "born and raised under the British flag," in what was the British West Indies.

She was a devout Catholic and very giving person; she and her husband Dan gave their time, prayer and compassion to many charities, were active in the church, and made visits to residents at Good Samaritan Society-Betty Dare for several years.

Most of all, Mary Helen was a faithful and loving wife and mother. She modeled lifelong commitment and deep love with a caring and passionate heart. We are greatly saddened at her departure, but are grateful of God's mercy to release her of her worldly suffering.

Mary Helen is survived by her husband, Daniel Novak, her brother Cedric Stone, her children and their spouses Catherine (Dennis) May, Jeanie (Richard) Murrow, Roger Novak (Wendy Kliewer), Bernadette (Steve) Mills, Heather (Rusty) Baldwin, Gerald Novak (Anna-Marie Hawkins), 20 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements.

Friends may sign the Guest Book online at www.hamiltonodell.com or in person after the Mass.

All are welcome to greet family members at the luncheon in the St. Jude Fellowship Hall following the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Father James B. Hay Catholic School, 1000 E 8th St, Alamogordo, NM 88310.
