Mary Isabelle Rancher
Mary Isabelle Rancher (Isabelle), 88, died peacefully in her sleep at her residence in San Diego on Monday, Oct. 18, 2010.
She was a much-loved teacher, military wife, mom, and grandmother and will be missed by her family and friends. Isabelle came to the Alamogordo area with her family when her husband was assigned to Holloman Air Force Base in 1965. She taught third grade at Holloman Elementary School. She retired from the Alamogordo Public Schools in 1983 after almost 43 years of teaching in elementary schools around the country. Isabelle grew up in Deming where she graduated from high school and she received her Bachelor of Education degree from Western New Mexico University.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Alma Wiggs of Deming; her husband, Emuel Rancher who retired from the Air Force at Holloman Air Force Base; and her brother, Charles Wiggs of Blackhawk, Colo.
She is survived by her son, Wayne and daughter-in-law Helen; daughter, Cheryl Ladley and son-in-law Jerry; grandchildren, Marc Ladley and wife, Theresa, Mary Ann Spiewak and husband, Sean, Todd Rancher and Scott Rancher; great-grandchildren, Brittany Spiewak and Breanna Spiewak; cousins and nieces.
