Mary J. Cicala, 86, born in Detroit, Mich., passed away quietly in her Tularosa home Sept. 6, 2008, with her family by her side.
Mary has joined her husband, William Vito Cicala; parents Louisa Casadei and Armenio Casadei; brother Norino Casadei; son John Joseph; and grandson John J. Cicala.
Mary is survived by her brother, Joseph Casadei; five children, Armin Cicala, William Cicala Jr., Francine Cicala Burke and Frank Cicala, all of Tucson, Ariz.; and Mary Beth Cicala, of Tularosa. Mary was also blessed with 11 grandchildren, Michael, Tony, Paul, Robert, MaryAnn, Taylor, Preston and Kylie Cicala, Lisa Harrelson, Carrie Santa Cruz and Jennifer Nickell; 15 great-grandchildren; numerous extended family members; and many wonderful friends.
Mom was very loving and generous. She went out of her way to help friends and family. She gave from the heart to help others, whether it be a family member, a friend or co-worker. If she heard of someone in need, she was there for them. This was Mary Cicala, our loving, compassionate mother. We love you, Mom, and we will miss you terribly.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. at the East Lawn Palm Mortuary, 5801 E. Grant Road in Tucson.
Mass will be celebrated at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 3201 E. Presidio Road, Tucson, on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at 9:30 a.m.
Interment will follow in Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N. Oracle Road in Tucson.
Should friends desire, the family requests donations be sent in Mary J. Cicala's name to Alamogordo Hospice, P.O. Drawer 29, Alamogordo, NM 88311.
