Obituary Condolences

Mary Janet Conger, 76, passed away peacefully at Thomason Hospital in El Paso, Texas,
Wednesday, April 15, 2008, at 11:20 p.m. shortly following unexpected medical
complications. She was born March 18, 1932, in Muleshoe, Texas, to John and Velma
(Dayton) Fried. Nineteen years later she met and later married her soul mate and husband
of almost 57 years, Alfred Allen Jr. Together they raised four children of their own while
running a successful local business.
Jan was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and she loved like she lived -
generous, unassuming and with her whole heart. Never one to complain, she carried the
burden of the world on her shoulders with a smile on her face. Those who were honored
to know and love her knew she was one of a kind. She was a tower of strength to those
who depended on her and she had compassion for animals and people alike. She took joy
and pleasure in the simple things in life: long walks with her dogs, the ocean, looking at
wildflowers, handwritten letters and being with her adored husband, as well as her
beloved children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Alfred, of the family home; her beloved
children, Laura Wright and husband Jeff, Cheryl Ybarrra and husband Richard, John
Conger and wife Charlene, and Dan Conger and wife Carrie; grandchildren Amber,
Malina and Matthew Conger, and Michael Cornelius.
Her loss will be felt deeply as she was an incredible and loving person and brought
friendship and comfort to those around her. To honor her wishes, no services will be held
publicly. Memorial donations may be made to the Animal Rescue Mission.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her grandson Joseph Conger.
When you are sorrowful look again in your heart and you shall see that in truth you are
weeping for that which has been your delight. - Khalil Gibran
Cremation will take place locally at PCS, entrusted to the care of Alamogordo Funeral
Home.
