Obituary Condolences

Order of the Eastern Star worthy grand matron
Mary L. Owen, 75, of Tularosa, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2008, after a long illness at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces.
Mary was born Oct. 29, 1932, in Dallas, Iowa, to Minus and Florence (Ream) Cleair.
She married Porter T. Owen July 15, 1951. She received a bachelor's degree in fine arts from St. Mary's College in Maryland. Mary then served in the Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Tom, of the family home; a son, Thomas W. Owen and his wife Nedra, of Missouri; three daughters, Deborah Seals and her husband Lyle, Jacquelynn Steele and her husband Rusty, and Mary Herrmann and her husband Pall, all of Missouri; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lloyd Cleair, of Atkinson, Ill.
There were two great loves in Mary's life. The greatest was her family, and the other was the Order of the Eastern Star. At her passing, Mary was the worthy grand matron of the Grand Jurisdiction of New Mexico of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but we know that she has only been gone for a short while and soon we will join her.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday, April 30, at 2 p.m. at the Tularosa Masonic Lodge, 411 Higuera, with Tularosa Basin Chapter No. 72, Order of the Eastern Star officiating.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Benevolent Fund of the Grand Chapter of New Mexico, Order of the Eastern Star; c/o Barbara Eichmeller, Secretary; 1602 S. Saddler St., Deming, NM 88030.
