Matthew "Matt" Fair Obituary
Memorial services for Matthew D. Fair, 27, of La Luz will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2011, in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. James Terry officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Miller, James Peterson, Stanley Morris, Steven Plante, Micah Milner and Josh McCarty. A lunch will be served following the service at the Jake Lopez Building.
Matthew David Fair, known to everyone as "Matt," was born May 4, 1983, in Portales to Janet (Hepfinger) and Andy Fair. Matt passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011.
Matt grew up in Portales and graduated from Portales High School in 2001. He loved music and playing guitar. Matt left Portales shortly after graduating and worked in Las Cruces for several years as a body piercer in a tattoo shop.
Later he left to work in the oil fields in Utah. He returned to Las Cruces and later moved to the Alamogordo area, where he was managing a tobacco store.
Matt loved the outdoors and outdoor activities. Snowboarding, hiking, hunting and shooting were among his favorite things to do.
He is survived by his parents Andrew (Tracy) Fair, of Clovis, and Janet Fair, of Floyd; four brothers, Cheston (Beth) Fair, of Logan, Blake Fair, of Portales, and Clayton Scorzafava and Justin Scorzafaya, both of Clovis; two sisters, Becky Fair and Lacy Fair, both of Portales; grandparents John and Grace Fair, Bob and Shirley Rogers, and David and Joan Hepfinger, all of Portales, and Jack and Tammy Achen, of Yeso; great-grandmother Alice McClarney, of Portales; and his best friend, Katherine "Kat" Million, of Portales.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
