Homemaker and Pastor's Wife
Melva E. "Janie" Hudman, 70, of Weed, passed away Monday, May 19, 2008, at Nor-Lea General Hospital in Lovington.
Mrs. Hudman was born March 10, 1938, in Stanton, Texas. She had lived in Weed since 2004 and was a member of the Weed Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Franklin Lee Hudman, of the family home; a son, Robert Hudman and his wife Kay, of Sacramento, N.M.; three daughters, Paula Boughton and her husband Robbie, of Pueblo West, Colo., Rebecca Nagy, of Alamogordo, and Martha Porter and her husband Kenneth, of Lovington; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, William Batte, of Roswell; and two sisters, Barbara Wood, of Alamogordo, and Linda Becker and her husband Robert, of Mobile, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Jessie (Armstrong) and William Robert "Buck" Batte; a son, Jerry Burke Hudman; and a brother, Don Graves.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in the Weed Community Center with the Rev. Wade Maberry and the Rev. Norm Green officiating.
Interment will follow in the Lusk Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Carl Wood, Gary Gardner, Jim Ward, Al Alvarez, Mitch Hibbard, James Hibbard and Patt Patterson.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home
