Michael Lewis Trujillo

1948 - 2015 Obituary Condolences

Michael Lewis Trujillo, of Alamogordo, New Mexico, slipped the surly bonds of earth into the wild blue yonder to touch the face of God on June 16, 2015.

He was the husband of Eunice (Navarro) Trujillo. He made his entrance into this world on September 11, 1948 in Socorro, New Mexico, to Miguel A. and Delfina (Carmody) Trujillo.

He was an adventurous little boy and always full of energy. He attended Mt. Carmel School in Socorro, and was a cub scout. He loved playing the drums in both, Warrior and Jazz band at Socorro High. He later played in a local band, The Night Walkers, and practiced at his residence across the street from his future wife's house to show off a little. The couple became high school sweethearts and were married for almost 48 years and were fortunate enough to be the love of each others lives, doing everything together.

Michael will be greatly missed by his family. He was always a wonderful husband and father to his family and fiercely loved and protected them and they loved him in return. He was always willing to do all those projects his wife, children, and grandchildren came up with. He was a creative handyman, thinking outside the box to get any project completed.

He joined the U.S. Air Force in January of 1968 and retired in October of 1988 having served his country for over 20 years. His favorite Air Force job was working at the CIRIS division of the 6585th Test Group Squadron where he made some great friends and was known as "TJ." He was a talented electronic technician in navigational systems and chose sites worldwide to install this equipment.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Michele Trujillo, of Alamogordo, Valerie Matika and her husband Daniel, of Summit Hill, Pennsylvania, and Tracy Kronk and her husband Typhon, of West Jefferson, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Megan Matika, Natalie Stewart, Kiersten Matika Rivera and her husband Joel, Colton Stewart, and Mary, Benjamin, Jacob, and Grace Kronk; one great-grandchild Mirabella Rose Rivera; three brothers, Antonio Gonzales (Margie), James Trujillo (Frances), Christopher Trujillo (Felicia); two sisters Patricia Trisler and Jeanette Bustamante (Eddie); one brother-in-law David Navarro; three sister-in-laws Ruth Orona, Dorcas Garcia (Oscar), Loida Rowberry (Bradley); and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law Rev. Ramon and Carolina Navarro; grandson Cameron Stewart; granddaughter Sarai Trujillo.

Family will greet friends from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 2015, at Hamilton O'Dell Funeral Home, 1334 N. Scenic Dr., Alamogordo, NM. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 with Billy Tucker officiating also at Hamilton O'Dell Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
