Miguel Luna Macias Obituary

Miguel L. "Mike" Macias was born Oct. 29, 1941, in Alamogordo. He went to be with the Lord on June 12, 2014, after a long battle with cancer.

He served with the National Guard, worked at Dyncorp, Bell Helicopter, Bus Air and Lennox in Fort Worth, Texas. He retired from NMSU-A after 26 years.

Survivors include: his wife of 51 years Mary Lou Macias; daughter Hilda Villarreal and husband Ray; son Mike Macias and wife Gina; daughter Norma Collins; eight grandchildren: Suzanne Anderson, Jeremy Macias, Dustin Villarreal, Katie Macias, Austin and Joslynn Collins, Brittany and Jordan Velissariou; one special great-granddaughter Kiannalise Perez, and four sisters: Maria Van Winkle, Angelita "Quelo" Trujillo, Linda Smith and husband Frank, Veronica Duran, and a special cousin Juan Esquero and his wife Lydia.

He was preceded in death by his father Jesus Macias and mother Rosa (Luna) Macias.

The Rosary for Miguel Macias will be recited at 6 p.m., Friday, June 20, at Alamogordo Funeral Home by Sal Chavez. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 21, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Deacon Pete Schumacher, acting as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at St. Jude Columbarium and a celebration of life will be held at the St. Jude Parish Hall.

The Macias family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
