Mildred Fay "Millie" Werner Obituary
Longtime resident
Mildred Fay "Millie" Werner, 89, a longtime resident of Alamogordo, died Friday, September 25, 2009, at her home.
Millie was born April 17, 1920, in Greenville, Texas to Charles and Ila Mae (Grable) Spradling, and had lived in Alamogordo since 1961. For many years she worked at the Alamo Drug Store, Hospital Pharmacy and Medical Arts Pharmacy. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, and a past Worthy Matron of Alamo Chapter No. 11, Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a daughter Ann Carson and her husband Ron of Roswell; two sons, John Richard Werner of Maui, Hawaii, and Mark Werner and his wife Linda of Thorne Bay, Alaska; six grandchildren, Shana Martinez and her husband, Marcos, of Loveland, Colo., Mark Travis Werner of Maui, Chris Werner of Ocean View, Hawaii, Ryann Haile Putman and her husband, Jared, of Houston, Texas, Carly Werner of Maui, and Viva Werner of Eugene, Ore.; three great-grandchildren, Devon Martinez and Jayden Martinez of Loveland, Colo. and Isaiah Werner of Maui; three brothers, Hubert Spradling and his wife, Margaret, of Orange, Texas, David Spradling and his wife, Margaret, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Orville Spradling and his wife, Reta, of Big Spring, Texas; and a sister Nancy Lease of Alamogordo.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, Rex B. Werner, in 2000; and a brother Gene Spradling.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home, and the family will have private services.
