Mildred P. "Millie" Dean Obituary
Mildred P. "Millie" Dean, 80, of Crow Flat, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Carlsbad Medical Center.
There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place.
A graveside service is scheduled for Sunday, March 13, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Dean Family Cemetery with elder Ray Perez officiating.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mildred P. "Millie" Dean was born Oct. 3, 1930, in Presidio, Texas, to Jim and Winnie (James) Payne. She graduated from high school in Weed. Millie married Clifton Dean on Aug. 12, 1948. They moved to their Berlin Ranch in the Brokeoff Mountains where they sheep ranched and raised their children. Later they moved to Crow Flat so the kids could attend high school, where she remained the rest of her life. Millie was a great seamstress and cook, and enjoyed writing and reading. Her most recent enjoyment was watching the PBR with Clifton and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Dorothy Wills and Babe Bell; brother Jack Payne and one aunt, Bertha Driver.
Survivors are husband, Clifton H. Dean; five children, Winnamae Gage and husband, Nick, of Artesia, Crockett Dean and wife, Pam, of Dell City, Texas, Becky Walker and husband, Dennis, of Sierra Blanca, Texas, Francis Shrum, of Horizon City, Texas, and Quentin Dean and wife, Dana, of Crow Flat; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers are Gary Gage, Ed Gage, Riely Dean, Jess Dean, David Gallagher, Kyle Walker, Quint Cantell and Clint Dean.
