Obituary Condolences

Millie (Cross) Swearingen-Engel, 70, of Industry, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, in Alamogordo.
She was born on the second day of October 1939 to Dale C. Cross and Maudie E. Spradlin-Cross in Fulton County, Ill.
Millie married Lyle M. Swearingen on Nov. 2, 1958, at the United Methodist Church in Industry. They resided in Industry for 27 years and to this union of marriage three children were born, David (Newark, N.J.), John (Industry) and Lisa Patch (Alamogordo). 
They owned and operated Swearingen Electric in Industry for many years before Lyle passed on July 1, 1986. Millie continued to own and operate Swearingen Electric until its closing in 1992. 
Millie was united in marriage with Bill Engel on Jan. 1, 1989, in Springfield, Mo. They enjoyed retirement, traveling and visiting family. 
Millie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Darlene Rose, her husband, Lyle, and stepson Jeff Engel. 
She is survived by Bill, her husband of 21 years; two brothers, Bill (wife Linda) Cross, of Tucson, Ariz., and Larry (wife Shirley) Cross, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; son David Van Swearingen, grandson Jarrod and great-grandson Rahman, of Newark, N.J.; son John Swearingen (wife Tami), granddaughters Michelle Swearingen and great-grandson Jonathan, of Industry, Brittany (husband Steve) Cromer and great-grandson Landon, of Macomb, Ill., and grandson Dustin, of Industry; daughter Lisa Patch (husband Trent) and granddaughters Breckon, and great-grandsons Israel, Brighton and Brooklyn Patch, of Alamogordo; and stepsons Mike Engel (wife Wynn), of Orlando, Fla., and Kevin Engel, of Alpharetta, Ga. 
She also leaves behind four sisters-in-law, Judy Conner (husband John) of Fort Myers, Fla.; Janet Sullivan (husband Mark) of Industry; Imogene (husband Al) Ansorge, of Baldwin, Mo.; and Loraine (husband Bobby) Bridges, of Stewartson, Ill.
Millie enjoyed family get-togethers and all loved her company and great cooking. She also enjoyed her day trip adventures with friends and gardening.
The visitation was held at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home, Macomb, Ill., Monday, Feb. 8, 2010. Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at the Industry United Methodist Church.
