Milton Jones Obituary
Milton Jones, a longtime resident of Alamogordo, passed away peacefully at home on January 14, 2018. A celebration of life for Milton and Patricia Jones will be held at 10:00 am Monday, January 22, at Christ Community Church, 2960 Scenic Drive, Senior Pastor and friend Jack Brock, presiding. A reception at the Church will follow the service.

Milt was born December 30, 1936 in East St. Louis, Illinois to Milton and Marion (Boski) Jones. He graduated from Assumption Catholic High School and joined the Army in 1955. Milt was proud to have served in the US Army, where he was stationed in Massachusetts, New York, and Germany. Upon return from the service, he began a career in security systems and, at one point, singlehandedly apprehended four armed robbers in East St. Louis.

In 1959, Milt married the former Patricia Jerashen. The adventurous couple followed family to Buena Park, California before moving north to Fresno, where Milt continued his career in security. In 1970, he joined his sister Dora Walker in Alamogordo, where he opened the Alert Alarm Company.

Together, Milt and Pat built the company, serving communities from Silver City to Albuquerque to Carlsbad until his retirement in 2001. Over the years, they expanded their business ventures to include a carpet company, an answering service, and Western Union.

Milt and Pat raised five children and fostered more than 70 others in California and New Mexico. A strong advocate for children's welfare, Milt was one of the original volunteers for SUSPRENO, an interfaith Christian program for underprivileged children, and he served on the Board of Directors for Zia Therapy Center for almost twenty years. He and Pat adopted Niko Jones in 1979.

Milt provided twenty-four hour service with Alert Alarm, which meant that he was called out almost every night to close a door, fix a window, and sometimes catch a burglar. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, coaching little league, when his children were playing, and he anchored the company bowling team with his powerful sixteen pound ball that crushed the pins into submission with every roll. Milt and Pat loved to dance at the few Alamogordo venues available in the seventies and eighties, and in the living room when there were no other alternatives. Milt and Pat were devout Christians and longtime members of Christ Community Church, where he ushered and supported the church wherever there was a need.

Milt is survived by his siblings Dora Walker of Alamogordo and Mary (Joaquin) Baligad of Anaheim California; his children, Jim, Joe, John, Jerry, and Niko Jones; his grandchildren Vanessa Jones Piampiano, Jennifer Dickinson, and Daniel, Natalie, Jonathan, David, Derek, and Hannah Jones; and great grandchildren Lilah and Louisa Piampiano and Kevin Jr., and Harper Dickinson. Milt was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 57 years Patricia Jones, and his brother Stan Jones, also of Alamogordo.

Milton Jones was a man bigger than life, a life that he lived in the service of others. We are blessed to have been a part.
