Mirla Nell (Reynolds) Merritt Obituary
Mirla Nell (Reynolds) Merritt passed away Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, in La Luz. She was born March 26, 1932.
Mirla is survived by two sons, Robert Merritt and his wife, Kathy, of Midland, Texas. and Russell Merritt, of La Luz; and two daughters, Rebecca Erickson, of La Luz, and Rachel Glidden and her husband, Wayne, of La Luz. She also leaves four grandchildren, John Erickson, Jessica Erickson, Chris Glidden and his wife, Monique, and Ryan Glidden and his wife, Kelly; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Aidan.
Survivors also include two sisters, Dorothy Fuqua, and Bonnie Jones and her husband, Bill.
Mirla was born during the Depression and was known for always having anything anyone needed at any time. No one could ever presume to "get rid" of anything if she was around. She would always find a use for "whatever." No matter what the project, she would have the necessary equipment.
Mirla had so many wonderful friends in this world. They all know she would give them "the shirt off her back" if she even suspected their need or want. Her house was always open and an invitation was never needed.
There has never been a harder worker. From gardening, canning, baking, digging ditches, spraying trees, pruning, caring for livestock, caring for elderly friends and neighbors and anything anyone needed, she was always busy. The only "work" she didn't care for was cleaning house. She always said, "You might as well come on in and see what a lousy housekeeper I am and then we can get comfortable and visit."
Mirla will surely be missed by all that were fortunate to know her.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, at the La Luz Community Cemetery.
The Merritt family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
