1926 - 2007 Obituary Condolences
Muriel Brooks Edwards, 81, of Placitas, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at her residence, following a brief illness. Born March 8, 1926, in Shelby, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ida Matilda Stacey Brooks.
She was the wife of Norman W. Brooks Sr., who predeceased her in 1977.
Mrs. Edwards was formerly employed as a cashier with A&P Grocery Store, Westminster, Md., retiring in the late 1970s. She enjoyed playing bingo and taking trips to Atlantic City.
Surviving her are five daughters, Alesia E. Meyers and husband Bob, of Mesa, Ariz., Wilda E. Portner, of Placitas, Brenda E. Ayerdis and husband Mario, of Anchorage, Alaska, Barbara E. Trimble and husband John, of Abilene, Texas, and Loretta F. Vanderpool, of Frederick, Md.; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Norman W. Edwards Jr. in 1964; son-in-law Hermel "Wayne" Vanderpool; and sisters Bernice Selby and Eunice Hart.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 6 at 11 a.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Road., Libertytown, Md., with the Rev. Jacob Beck, former rector of Hariet Chapel Episcopal Church, Thurmont, Md., officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Union Bridge, Md. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services on Saturday.
