Nancy Ann (Rhinesmith) Collins Obituary

Nancy Ann (Rhinesmith) Collins, 86, passed away on Feb. 2, 2016, in Alamogordo, New Mexico . She was born on March 18, 1929, in Waukegan , Illinois, to John and Mildred ( Rogers ) Rhinesmith.

She lived by example in every avenue of her life. As a friend, she gave devotion and support. As a teacher, there was unyielding guidance and knowledge. As a sister, there was no greater love and commitment. As a mom, there was unconditional love and a strong will of discipline and commitment to raise her children to be proud, responsible, and compassionate, with a strong drive to succeed, just like her. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren to the moon and back!

She lived life every day to the fullest. She found enjoyment in every task that she did, from digging in the dirt to vacuuming the house. She was like a fish in the water and could swim to put dolphins to shame. She could sew like a pro and made everything from clothes to quilts. She loved to dance and could two-step like there was no tomorrow. She had a deep, deep love for animals, and took many wayward ones into her care. She was known as the energizer bunny because she just never slowed down. She touched many, many lives in her years of teaching PE. Every year of teaching was one of pure joy for her, and she spoke of that enjoyment every day of her life. As her daughter, she was my inspiration, my anchor, my role model, my teacher, and my best friend. There are no words to describe how much she will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, Mom would appreciate donations to .

Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Petree of Alamogordo, N.M., and her grandson, Toby Petree of Los Lunas; son, Brett (Betty) Collins of Houston, Texas; grandsons, Dusty Collins of Alamogordo, N.M., Coy Collins of Phoenix, Ariz., Casey Collins of Phoenix, Ariz.; and sister, Sue Drake of Sugar City, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Rhinesmith, and son, Shane Collins.
