Nathaniel "Nate" Myers Obituary
Nathaniel "Nate" Myers left this earthly life peacefully on Sunday, March 18, 2012, in El Paso, surrounded by his loving wife of 45 years, his daughter and dear family friend Calvin Gipson.
He was born April 4, 1930, in Columbia, S.C., to the late James and Carrie Myers.
He retired after 20 years of service with the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the VFW Post 7686 and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 2016.
"Nate," as he was affectionately known, drove cab in the Alamogordo area and throughout the state until the time of his death.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Norma J. Myers, and daughter Geselle Savoy, of Alamogordo; son Nathaniel Myers, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three grandchildren: Jarrell Savoy, of Alamogordo, Janay Savoy, of Lafayette, La., and Alia Myers, of Bushkill, Pa.; four great-grandchildren; sister Parthenia Myers, of New York City; one sister-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins.
He is also survived by the "apple of his eye," Daisha Janay Savoy; very special niece (whom he thought of as a granddaughter) Gentle Hall, of Dallas; and many devoted and special friends.
Take your rest Paw-Paw. We love and miss you. You have touched many lives, and for that we are forever grateful.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, March 24, 2012, at New Convenant Worship Center, 700 First St., Alamogordo, at 2 p.m. with Pastor J.L. Walker officiating.
The family will greet friends after the memorial service at the Oddfellows Hall on First Street in Alamogordo.
