Nettie Gonzales Turner Obituary

Nettie Gonzales Turner, age 83, born on September 15, 1932 passed away on November 26, 2015 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Nettie was a life long resident of Clayton, New Mexico.

Nettie was preceded in death by her father Frank Gurule, mother Eugena Lujan; husband and father of her children Reuben Gonzales; son Larry Gonzales; three infant children Ruby Corrine, Ruben Eugene and Ruby Ann; son-in-laws Lawrence Montoya and James Dorsey, Jr.; brothers Paul Gurule and Tony Morrison; sisters Virginia Garcia, Rosa Gurule, Lupe Fuentes, and Mary Fuentes. Nettie was also preceded in death by her husbands Ruben Duran and Leonard Turner.

Nettie is survived by her son Jerry Gonzales and wife Pam, daughters Rosanne Garcia and husband Domingo, Jeannie Montoya, Corrine Gonzales, Rebecca Baca and husband Andre, Dianna Young and husband Curtis, Sue Latimer and husband Steve and Ruby Ethridge and husband Bryan; step-daughter Penny Manahan, sister Erma Lovato and husband Joe, brothers John Gurule and wife Sandra, and Jess Gurule. Nettie is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, step-grandchildren, cousins and friends.

Nettie was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1951. As a devoted servant of Jehovah she believed in the Bibles' promise: "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life:" John 11:6, she also believed "and he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away" Rev. 21 :4.

At the age of 14, Nettie interpreted bible studies from English to Spanish for her mother when she began her studies with Jehovah's Witnesses. Nettie trained her children with direction from the bible and she succeeded in raising her children with good family values.

Love for her family included working hard as a housewife and mother and teaching them the skills of sewing, cooking, canning, gardening and quilting. As a cook, she was known for making the best green chili, and as a quilter, her children and grandchildren enjoyed the love and warmth of her quilts.
Nettie owned and operated Nettie's Janitorial Service.

A Memorial service will take place at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Tularosa, New Mexico on December 6, 2015 at 2 p.m. Interment will take place at the Clayton Memorial Cemetery in Clayton, New Mexico.
Nettie's family would like to thank the Alamogordo Home Health Care and Hospice.

The family has entrusted their loved one to the Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
