1936 - 2015 Obituary Condolences
Norbert F. Dupre Obituary

Norbert F. Dupre, 78, died peacefully at his home in Alamogordo on March 15, 2015. He was born August 30, 1936, in Woonsocket, R.I., to Clifford Dupre and Yvonne (LaMontagne) Dupre.

He was a decorated air force veteran, named to the top 5 percent of first sergeants. He was also a respected civil servant who served in all capacities with honor and distinction. Raised in Massachusetts, "Dupe" traveled far and wide, including service in Georgia, Norway, England, Massachusetts, California, Germany, New York, Vietnam (Danang), New Mexico, Germany, (again) and England (again).

During his civilian career, he served his country in Michigan and at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. In 1995 he was named civilian of the year at White Sands Missile Range.
He was a lifelong learner who had a tremendous curiosity about a variety of subjects, a man who always sought a better understanding of the world. He loved watching classic movies and reading about history. He was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox, and his fervor was finally rewarded with several championships.

Norbert was a kind, generous and patient man who reliably demonstrated his deep and abiding love for his family. Alongside his wife Marti, Pepere taught his children and grandchildren how to be a parent, spouse and friend. Norbert took care of those he loved with care and foresight that was evident every day of his life. One of his most outstanding qualities was that he stood by his family members when they were in their moments of greatest need and never turned his back on any of them. Among the last things he said to Marti was that he trusted the Lord with all his heart.

He is survived by his loving wife Marti of 54 years; sister Jackie Watson and her husband Pat of Lincoln City, Ore.; son Michael, his wife JoAnne and their daughters Michele, Elena, along with her husband Michael; Yvonne, Renee, and Christina of Las Cruces; son David and his wife Margie and their daughters Bonnie, with her husband Ryan, and Jessie of Santa Fe; son Mark and his wife Melissa and their daughter Madeline of Austin, Texas; daughter Dawna DeRoy, her husband Jason and their sons Zachary and his wife Monique, Nicholas and Levi of Bedford, Texas. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Justin, John, Lillian and Michael, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his brothers Donald and Roger.

Although we grieve his loss, we take comfort in knowing that his suffering was short and that he is at home in heaven with the Lord. We love and respect him greatly and are grateful for the many years we were blessed to be able to share with him.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 28 at 2 p.m.at Christ Community Church in Alamogordo.

The Dupre family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home, Inc., to direct the funeral services.
