Retired from the New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired
Opal Marie Robertson, 91, a longtime resident of Alamogordo, passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, in Alamogordo.
Mrs. Robertson was born May 7, 1917, in Paris, Texas, to John Wesley and Alice Irene (Rose) Cagle. She had lived in Alamogordo since 1956 and was retired as the head cook from the New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. She was a member of Boles Acres Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, John Robertson, of Alamogordo; a daughter, Anne French, and her husband, Clarence, of Alamogordo; six grandchildren, John Robertson II, of Tularosa, Kerry Worrick and her husband, Kevin, of Temple, Texas, and David French, Jim French and his wife, Robin, Tom French and his wife, Renee, and Bill French, all of Alamogordo; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Vyneta States and Wilma Prince, both of Amarillo, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, W.A. "Robby" Robertson, in 1998; five brothers, Vollie, Gene, Willard, Johnny and George Cagle; and a sister, Nora Kinnaird.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at 2 p.m. in the Hamilton-O'Dell Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Steve Trout officiating.
Interment will follow in Monte Vista Cemetery.
Mrs. Robertson's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call this evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
