Oren Lee Pruitt

1938 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Oren Lee Pruitt, 73, of Bandon, Ore., will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012, at the Church of Christ, 13th Street and Cuba Avenue in Alamogordo. Service will be provided by Jeff Cather.
Oren was born Sept. 28, 1938, the youngest of identical twins, in Springer to Emery Frank and Maude Mae Williams Pruitt.
He passed away Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at his home in Bandon surrounded by his family and friends.
Oren was raised and educated in Estancia. While going to school in the Ewing school house in Estancia, he met the love of his life, Barbara Autry. They were married Oct. 23, 1958, and made their home in Moriarty.
Oren worked as a masonry inspector for the state of New Mexico until he retired in 1997. Oren always kept himself busy by being an active member of the local school board, the board for the county fair and a valued member of the Lions Club.
In 1999, Oren and Barbara moved to Bandon to be close to his nephew Jim and Robin Pruitt, the son of his deceased twin, Otis. Oren and Barbara made their home in Alamogordo, where he had a home built for his loving bride of 53 years.
He was a member of the Church of Christ and the Old Time Fiddlers. Oren was a very accomplished musician and taught many members of his family to play an instrument. His legacy will live on through them. Oren loved to get together with friends and family and have a "jam session."
Oren also had made several music CDs with members of his family. His love of music ranked just behind his two greatest loves - "family and friends." Oren was truly an inspiration to all who knew him. Oren will be deeply missed by all.
Oren was preceded in death by one son, Little Frank; daughter Cheryl; twin brother Otis; and his parents.
Oren is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, of Bandon; daughter Sue and David Gibson, of Moriarty; daughter Carol and Rick Reeves, of Moriarty; sister Joellen and Archie Talent, of Alamogordo; brother Donald and Dellia Pruitt, of Floyd; grandchildren Travis, Troy and Justin Reeves, and Becky and Michael Gibson, all of New Mexico; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
