Paul J. Sipes Obituary

Mr. Paul J. Sipes was born on a farm in Clyde, Mo., on Feb. 20, 1927 and completed his life's journey here on Earth on Sept. 3, 2014.

Paul decided at a very early age that he really didn't have a knack for the farming business after one incident in particular. He had a favorite horse he sold to his father for five dollars. The next day his father asked Paul to ride the horse down the road a stretch to a nearby neighbor who proceeded to buy the horse from his father for $25. Shortly thereafter, Paul joined the U.S. Army at the ripe old age of 18 where he proudly served his country as a paratrooper. He said "he liked jumping out of planes much better than riding horses!"
After his Army career was over, Paul discovered his true passion, which was driving an 18 wheeler cross-country for 20-plus years. He got to see all 50 states and made lifelong friends with some of his driving buddies.
Paul never really said a lot, especially in the past several years, but he sure did know he was very well loved by his family and friends and the staff at Betty Dare who took very good care of him.

We are all sure that Paul is now resting comfortably with his beloved wife Mary, and likely sharing coffee and donuts with his Wellness Center buddies who spent a lot of time exercising their jaws, and occasionally their muscles!

Paul is survived by his two sons, Randy and Steve, in addition to many other family members and friends. Paul will especially be missed by his friend, Traci.

Upon Paul's request, there will be no formal services, but prayers are appreciated, and if friends or family should so desire, donations may be made to Betty Dare Good Samaritan Society of Alamogordo in Paul's memory.

May you rest in peace Paul; it's been quite the ride over 87 years!
