Pauline Holloway Obituary

Pauline Holloway, 89, went to be with the Lord, on Friday, June 24, 2016. She was born to the union of Joseph Brantley and Ophelia Forte in New Boston, Texas. She was the third child of four to this union. She was educated in Shady Grove Texas public schools and went on to earn the Degree of Associate in Arts from San Antonio Jr. College, St. Phillips Branch on May 30, 1946.
In 1947, she married the love of her life Clifford L. Holloway, in Texarkana, Ark. To this union four children were born: Debra, Marsha, Clifford, and Angela. She was employed at the Red River Arsenal Depot for several years prior to relocating to Alamogordo, N.M.

At an early age she accepted Christ, and was baptized at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Once married, she continued to serve God and joined her husband at Martin Chapel C.M.E. Church in Red Water, Texas. Owens Chapel A.M.E. Church became her church home when she and her husband moved to Alamogordo. She was a member there from 1956-1983. She then became a faithful member of New Zion Baptist Church until her passing.
Pauline had a servant's heart, which led her to serve as a volunteer with Women Who Care, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America. She also received an award for 30 years of volunteer service with Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. She loved serving her family, and she occasionally worked outside of the home. She worked for Hayes Garment Factory and later retired from Jack Wheeler Men's Store.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ophelia Brantley, brothers Ocie and Joel Brantley, and her only sister Josephine Holloway.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Clifford L. Holloway; her four daughters, Joyce Williams of Alamogordo, N.M., Debra Smith of Houston, Texas, Marsha (Kary) Taylor of Missouri City, Texas, Angela (Nathan) Berry of Houston, Texas, and son Clifford Len (Cheryl) Holloway of Del Rio, Texas; 19 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, one sister-in-law Lucille Holloway of Texarkana, Texas, one brother-in-law Nathan Collins, of Texarkana, Texas, a host of nieces and nephews, a special cousin De-Lee affectionately known as Sister, along with her church family and friends.

The family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m., on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at New Zion Baptist Church. The funeral service for Pauline will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Willard Avery officiating. Burial will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.

The Holloway family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
