Pedro "Pete" Ortega Obituary
Pedro 'Pete' Ortega, 75, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012, in Alamogordo. He was born March 17, 1937, in Alamogordo to Pedro and Lupe (Melon) Ortega.
Pedro retired from Raytheon at White Sands Missile Range after 18 years of service. Pedro's greatest joy, other than his family, was going up to Ruidoso betting on the ponies, and for hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, David "Paco" Ortega, Ernesto Ortega and Ben "Tito" Sanchez.
Pedro is survived by his one and only true love of 56 years, Elosia Ortega; his sister Lupe Ashe; brother Raymundo Ortega; his children who adored him, Alicia, Cindy, Art, Margaret and Veronica Ortega; grandchildren Jerome, Stevan, Joseph, Amanda, Sarah, Paul, Marissa, Antonio, Logan and Caleb; great-grandchildren Madison, Jaden, Audiana and Dominic; and many other nieces and nephews.
The rosary will be recited by Linda Villabisencio at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 705 Delaware Ave., Alamogordo. Mass of the Resurrection will follow the rosary at 9:30 a.m. with Father Mike Lindsey as celebrant.
Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Jerome Gonzales, Paul Marzan, Steven Roberts, Joey Roberts, Antonio Silva, Logan Ortega, David Ashe and David Ortega.
Honorary pallbearers are Caleb Ortega, Steve Melon, Robert Salazar, Richard Salazar, Leroy Garcia, Randall James Ortega and Bobby Silva.
The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2012, at the Alamogordo Funeral Home chapel, located at 2301 First St., Alamogordo.
The Ortega family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
