Peggy M. Wilcox died peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, surrounded by her family at Lincoln County Medical Center.
Peggy was born March 7, 1934, in Alamogordo. She married Lester B. Wilcox on May 13, 1952.
Peggy came from a pioneer family of the Tularosa Basin and made her life in the area from Three Rivers to Otero Mesa. Her lifelong joy was her family and she was adamant about being able to help out in whatever way she could.
Peggy was a homemaker and also worked outside of the home contributing to the family income. She supported Lester in his endeavors of trucking, farming, and horse racing. Peggy exemplified the idea of teaching by example, the family values of caring, honesty, responsibility, independence and focusing on things that truly matter.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Threva Trammell; and her husband Lester.
She is survived by three daughters: Linda Lujan (Gino), of Santa Rosa, Jana Rae Burch (Norm), of Roswell, and Laura Thompson (Eddie), of Tularosa; grandchildren Jared Lujan (fiancee Annette Jacks), Adam Lujan (Nicole), Isaac Vigil, Sarah Vigil, Casi Puckett (Mike), Adam Thompson and Riley Thompson; great-grandson Jeremiah Vigil; brother Bill Trammell (Evelyn); brother-in-law Lyndol Wilcox (Betty); sister-in-law Sue Wilmeth (Warren); cousins and friends Velda Black, Fred Lloyde Parker (Louise), Sammy Beach (Betty Lou), Lonnie Lee Skinner (Patty Jo) and Pat Berry (Bill); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Memorials services were conducted at the Ruidoso Downs Racetrack chapel.
