Phyllis Tumminaro Obituary
Phyllis Tumminaro, 82, passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at Casa Arena Blanca Nursing Center. She was born Dec. 24, 1929, in Chicago to John and Angelina Esposito.
She was raised in Chicago. She married Anthony Tumminaro in 1954 and together they raised three children. Anthony's work moved them to many places, California, Ohio, New Jersey and Florida. In 1965 she was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Her love for Jehovah God and Bible truth molded her life. The joy she found when learning that she would again she her mother in the Resurrection on a paradise earth greatly comforted her. She was known for her kindness, love and hospitality. She made the most delicious food, always warding everyone to be satisfied and happy.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Anthony Tumminaro, of Alamogordo; three children, Angelo and his wife, Cathy, of Sarasota, Fla., Anthony Tumminaro Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Alamogordo, and Angela Tumminaro, of Winter Park, Fla.; her brother Charles (Corine), of Schaumburg, Ill.; her sisters Josie Thorsen (Ed), of Green Bay, Wis., and Mary Esposito, of Lakewood, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Gina Evensen (Jason), Eric Tumminaro (Alecia), Dana Menendez (Magno), Lana Rivera (Ihan), Ashley Tumminaro-Dusz, A.J. Tumminaro and Nikki Tumminaro; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Angelina Esposito; brothers Sam and John Esposito; and great-granddaughter Calee Evensen.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to all the staff Casa Arena Blanca Nursing Center for their loving and attentive care.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1515 Fairview Ave., Tularosa, with Sam Boyce officiating.
The Tumminaro family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home. Cremation will take place at PCS.
