Longtime resident
Pilar M. Pantoja, 79, a longtime resident of Alamogordo, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008, in Alamogordo.
Mrs. Pantoja was born Feb. 28, 1929, in Sierra Blanca, Texas, to Francisco and Maria (Lopez) Macias. She had lived in Alamogordo since 1944. She was formerly employed at Zia Therapy Center and Coordinated Home Health Care, and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Survivors include six sons, Abraham Porras, of San Jose, Calif., Joe Porras and his wife Diane, of Las Cruces, Tony Porras and his wife Elizabeth, of Alamogordo, Felix Pantojo and his wife Donnine, of Rio Rancho, Martin Pantoja and his wife Lisa, of Austin, Texas, and Greg Pantoja, of Alamogordo; six daughters, Margaret Gomez and her husband Raymond, of Tularosa, Annie Swann and her husband Sam, of Spruce Pine, N.C., Socorro "Suki" Dominguez and her husband Rufus, of San Jose, Calif., Lupe Sanchez and her husband Mike, of Alamogordo, Mary Woods and her husband Kenneth, of Alamogordo, and Josie Freeman and her husband Mark, of Laurel, Md.; 39 grandchildren, Mark Sanchez, Anthony Dominguez, Frank Dominguez, Bill Swann, Larry Haynes, Michael Haynes, Andrew Porras, Ruben Porras, Albert Porras, Anthony Porras, Davis Porras, Adrian Freeman, Marcus Freeman, Raymond Gomez, David Gomez, Matthew Pantoja, Jeremy Boetjer, Justin Porras, Eric Chavez, Chris Sanchez, Jeremy Sanchez, Johnny Porras, David Porras, Mary Reed, Martha Rocha, Margaret Bryant, Helen Contreras, Diane Marrujo, Barbie Reynolds, Josie Sanchez, Terri Hughes, Starla Ponder, Lorena Porras, Kristina Porras, Michelle Satterfield, Selena Porras, Isabela Porras, Felicia Pantoja and Connie Sanchez; numerous great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jose Macias, of Alamogordo, and Manuel Macias, of Norfolk, Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Abran Porras; her second husband, Ramon Pantoja; a son, Johnny Porras; a stepson, Luis Porras; three daughters, Consuelo Porras, Lucia Porras and Maria Pantoja; a brother, Jesus Macias; and two sisters, Juanita Clark and Dolores Carabajal.
A vigil service will be conducted Sunday at 7 p.m. in the Hamilton-O'Dell Chapel with the rosary to be recited by Margaret Gomez.
Funeral services will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Deacon Don Dickman officiating.
Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Pantoja's sons: Abraham Porras, Joe Porras, Tony Porras, Felix Pantoja and Martin Pantoja, and her grandson Mark Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers will be her son Greg Pantoja and her remaining grandchildren.
Friends may call Sunday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
