Priscilla P. Buhrman Obituary
Priscilla P. "Peach" Buhrman was 68 years old when she left this life and went home to God on Tuesday, July 24, 2012. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was born Nov. 25, 1943, at home on Thanksgiving Day with her dad and eight siblings in La Luz, where she grew up. She graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1961.
She met her husband, Melvin J. Buhrman, while he was stationed at Holloman Air Force Base. When he was discharged from the Air Force, they moved to southern California with their two children.
Priscilla embraced her calling to serve by obtaining training in the health care profession and getting her certification as a certified nursing assistant. A few years later, Priscilla and her two children moved back to her hometown, where she worked at Good Samaritan-Betty Dare for a time. She soon found her niche working for Alamogordo Home Care and Hospice, where she remained employed as supervisor of the homemaker division until her retirement in 2005.
After retirement from AHC, she continued to care for the elderly in need of assistance, even after she was diagnosed with cancer. She continued helping others whenever she was able.
Priscilla loved outdoor activities, especially fishing. Priscilla was forthright, hard working, strong, tenacious and an independent woman who was highly respected. She had a generous spirit and was very dependable.
After a long battle with cancer, Priscilla's final days were spent in her Alamogordo home surrounded by cherished friends and loving family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings.
She is survived by her daughter Sherry Buhrman; son Edward Buhrman and wife, Becky; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers; four sisters-in-law; two sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Priscilla donated her remains to the medical community for cancer research, therefore no funeral services are forthcoming at this time. Arrangement for Mass in her honor have been made for Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Our Lady of the Light in La Luz, and Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Alamogordo.
Priscilla requested that people wishing to do so should plant a tree in her memory. Also, deepest gratitude is extended to Alamogordo Home Care and Hospice staff for their professional and caring assistance and the loving care givers who enabled our loved one, Priscilla, to go gently and gracefully with God.
