Ralph L. McGowen Obituary
Ralph L. McGowen went to be with his lord and savior on Thursday, July 7, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 7, 1937, in Albuquerque to Henry G. and Alma (Smith) McGowen.
Mr. McGowen proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired in 1992, after 33 years, from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a resident of Alamogordo for 52 years. Ralph was also a longstanding member of the Elks.
Anyone who knew Ralph was aware of his love for his family, country, the Dallas Cowboys, the University of New Mexico Lobos and golf.
Survivors include his wife Shirley A. McGowen; daughters Barbara Morse, of Plano, Texas, Denise Humble, of Alamogordo, and Vicki Reed and her husband, Billy, of Alamogordo; sons Brad Humble and his wife, Gail, of Cloudcroft, Mike Humble and his wife, Cathy, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Greg Humble, of Alamogordo; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Ralph is also survived by his brothers Roy McGowen and his wife, Ruth, of Ontario, Calif., and Rex McGowen of Albuquerque.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry G. and Alma Smith McGowen; and his brothers, Ronald and Raymond McGowen.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2011, at the Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral chapel with Roy McGowen officiating.
Pallbearers include Tom Bernicke, Don Hinkle,and his grandsons Adam Morse, Justin Munoz, Jeff Reed and Jon Corn.
Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.

The McGowen family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
