Ramon Rayos Roman Jr. Obituary
Ramon Rayos Roman Jr., 80, an Alamogordo resident for over 70 years, died Saturday, April 17, 2010.
He was born Dec. 8, 1929, in Alamogordo to Ramon Rodarte Roman and Natalia Lira Rayos.
Ramon was a longtime parishioner at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a bricklayer and, with the help of his brothers, built the family home in Alamogordo. He taught his sons his trade but always encouraged education and strong work ethics. He was an avid deer hunter and shared this passion with his children. His sons, daughter and grandson accompanied him in hunting, creating a special bond. At times, his daughters participated in target shooting. There will always be a special place off of West Side Road that holds fond memories. He labored hard for those he loved then left us to remember.
Ramon was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rebecca Roman; his son Ricardo Roman; his parents; and his siblings Ignacio, Paulina, Pedro, Francisca, Julian, Juanita, Petra, Felisa and Jesus. Surviving him are his children Fernando Roman and wife, Sandy, Reyne Roman and wife, Anna, Ramon Roman III and wife, Donna, Edwina Roman, Elena Roman and husband, Alan Schroeder, and Esther Roman; 11 grandchildren, Debra Ann Daves and husband, Rick, Fernando Roman Jr. and wife, Yvonne, Erich Roman, Raquel Roman, Roman Gabriel Roman, Sarah Skye Roman-Quezada, Riley Roman, Crista Simmons, Jeremy Roman, Dakoda Barnes and Desiree Stewart; and seven great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be prayed at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Alamogordo with a memorial Mass to celebrate Ramon's life following at 2 p.m. with Fr. Juan Montoya officiating.
Flowers may be sent to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or donations may be made to the New Mexico Chapter, 101 N. Alameda, Las Cruces, NM 88005; (575) 647-3868.
