Obituary Condolences

Ray Elmo Davis, age 81, formerly of Alamogordo, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, in Los Lunas. Services will be held on Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at the Santa Anna Cemetery Pavilion, Santa Anna, Texas, with interment to immediately follow. Pastor Jimmy Hatcher will officiate, with Parker Funeral Home of Baird, Texas, in charge of arrangements.
Elmo was born Nov. 24, 1928 in Coleman County, Texas to Ray and Leona Cole Davis. He attended Santa Anna High School. Elmo married Elsie Vanslager on Jan. 16, 1952, in Waco, Texas. Elmo owned Davis Cleaning Service for many years in Alamogordo. His passion was playing the steel guitar in western swing bands across New Mexico and Texas. His hobbies included a love of camping and fishing, especially in the mountains of Colorado.
Survivors include his wife Elsie, of Clyde, Texas; four daughters, Gail Norvell of Las Cruces, Pat and Richard Austin, Colleena and Cliff Shriver, and LaVerne and Jerry, Mason all of Baird, Texas; two sons, William and Judy Mitchell of Graham, Texas, and Ray Davis, Jr. of Alamogordo; one brother, Dale and Ila Davis of Bonham, Texas, and one sister, June Cloud, of Lake Kiowa, Texas; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Audeen Davis, and one grandson, Christopher Davis.
