Raymond J. Briseno, Sr., 69
Raymond J. Briseno, Sr., 69, passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, in Alamogordo. He was born March 30, 1941, in Alamogordo to Margarito and Margarita (Calles) Briseno.
He was a great husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was a retired Army National Guardsman. He also retired from Alamogordo Public Schools, where he was the warehouse receiving supervisor for 30 years.
He was married to Maria B. Betancur on May 21, 1960, at St. Frances dePaula Catholic Church in Tularosa.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Maria B. (Betancur) Briseno, of the family home; children Raymond J. Briseno Jr., and his wife, Lucia, of Monahans, Texas, Donna (Briseno) Chavez and her husband, Alex, of Deming, Michael R. Briseno and his wife Liz, of Las Cruces, and Patricia D. Briseno and her husband, Edward Grabek, of Mesa, Ariz.; grandchildren Raymond J. Briseno III, Marie Chavez, Desiree V. Briseno and Julian C. Briseno, all of Monahans, Andrea Dominguez and her husband Mike, Jennifer Chavez, Lisa Banting and her husband, Josh, and Allie Chavez, all of Mesa, and Lauren Briseno, Matthew Briseno and Briana Briseno, all of Las Cruces; and great-grandchildren Dennis Banting and Hailee Dominguez, of Mesa.
He is also survived by two brothers, Albert Briseno, of Las Cruces, and Martin Briseno, of Alamogordo; and his sister Conception Fuentes, of Alamogordo.
He was preceded in death by his parents Margarito and Margarita Briseno.
He loved his lord and savior and his church. All those who knew him will greatly miss him and his sense of humor.
The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church by Monsignor R.S. Calles.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Monsignor R.S. Calles, celebrant.
Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Raymond J. Briseno III, Julian C. Briseno, Alex Chavez, Ed Grabek, Steven Chavez, Jesse Betancur Jr., Bengie Betancur and Matthew Briseno.
Honorary pallbearers include Marie Chavez, Raymond Briseno III, Desiree Briseno, Julian Briseno, Andrea Dominguez, Jennifer Chavez, Lisa Banting, Allie Chavez, Lauren Briseno, Matthew Briseno, Briana Briseno, Dennis Banting and Hailee Dominguez.
The family will greet friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at the Alamogordo Funeral Home chapel.
The Briseno family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
