Raymond L. Brokaw Obituary

Raymond L. Brokaw, 93, passed away on Sept. 26, 2016, in Alamogordo, N.M. He was born on May 9, 1923, in Sterling, Colo., to Leroy and Goldie (Riley) Brokaw. Raymond proudly served his country in the US Army Air Corps during WW II. He married Muriel Frances Erskine on July 24, 1943, in Carson City, Nev., before shipping overseas.

As a young infant, the family moved to Craig, Neb. Raymond graduated from Craig High School. At the age of 16, he went to California to work in the CC Camps. Later when he became 18 years of age, he worked for Bank of America in California until he started his own Auto Wrecking Service. He then left to work for various new car dealerships until he became self-employed in auto wholesales. Raymond retired in 2001 and moved to Alamogordo, where he resided until his death.

Survivors include his daughters, Doris Ann Wallace of Ruidoso, N.M., Linda Susan Pflug and fiance, Terry Washam of Ruidoso, Janice Lee Adams and husband Bruce of Iowa City, Iowa; son, Ronald Leroy Brokaw and wife Barbara of Oroville, Calif.; grandchildren, David Wallace of Sacramento, Calif., Gregory Furnish of Chicago, Ill., Melissa Brokaw of Sacramento, Jamie Brokaw of Oroville, Ronnie Brokaw of Oroville, Jason Brazell of Oroville, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Muriel; sister, Edna Clifton; brother, William Brokaw, granddaughter, Jennifer Brazell; and son-in-law John Pflug.

The family will have a private inurnment at a future date at East Lawn Cemetery in Sacramento.

The Brokaw family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services. Cremation will take place at PCS.
