Reba Rae Smith Jones Obituary
Reba Rae Smith Jones was born on May 30, 1956, to James Raymon and Vada Smith, of Roswell.
Reba was called home to be with her loved ones on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, in Alamogordo, after 56 years of life on Earth.
Reba grew up with her twin sister, Rena, and her older sister, Susan, in Roswell.
She graduated from Goddard High in 1974 and worked as a nurse's aid for several years after graduation.
Reba's compassion for others and her selfless spirit led her to pursue a degree in social work, which she obtained in 1989 from New Mexico State University.
Reba was a gifted freelance photographer and could often be found behind a camera taking beautiful candid photos of her family, friends, and pets. Reba's compassion and kindness didn't just stop with people; she was also known for her love of animals. She frequently rescued stray animals and had a special love of dogs.
She loved nature, and hiked trails with her dogs all over New Mexico.
She enjoyed camping, fishing, arts and crafts, and traveling.
Reba had a generous and loving heart, striking blue eyes, an infectious laugh, and will be greatly missed.
Reba is survived by her husband, William Jones, of Alamogordo; her son, Quentin Nichols of Bristow, Va., and his wife, Kelly; and her four grandchildren, Ethan, Brooke, Jonah and Kayla.
She is preceded in death by her father, James Raymon Smith, and her mother, Vada Couch Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Reba's memory to Animal Village New Mexico, a pet adoption center and animal welfare facility in Alamogordo.
Direct donations can be made via their website at
