Obituary Condolences

Rhea Mae Coleman, 84, of Alamogordo, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008.
Rhea was born May 3, 1924, in Gratiot County, Mich., and she ran off with a flyer during World War II. She began the lifestyle of a military wife and raised her children all across America.
She worked at Aerojet General and for the state of California. After the kids left she worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Then she spent 3 years working at the Bahá'í World Center in Haifa, Israel. Before returning to the United States, she lived for three years in Argentina. She drew on those and other experiences and a fertile imagination to author two books, "Gutsy's Luck" and recently, "The Way We Were."
Rhea was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton Coleman and Jesse Sleeseman, and her brother Ralsey Coleman.
She is survived by her sister, Marilee Acosta; her children, David, Sharon, Walter Wade and Burton Vose; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. at Monte Vista Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
