Richard Charles "Dickie" Darnold Obituary
Richard Charles "Dickie" Darnold was born Dec. 4, 1937, in New Laguna to John and Lois Darnold. He passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, in Las Cruces.
Richard and Charlotte, his wife of nearly 48 years, had two sons and three grandchildren.
Richard graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1955. He retired from NewTec in 2000 after 44 years of dedicated service to the company and its predecessors.
He enjoyed country and bluegrass music, dancing and playing golf, and he was an avid and talented woodworker. His handmade wooden gifts will serve as a lasting reminder of his love and will be treasured. Always generous with his time, he was ever ready and willing to lend a helping hand whenever and wherever needed.
Most of all, he loved spending time with his extended family, and he was above all else a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, of Alamogordo; his sons Dale Darnold (Jackie), of Las Cruces, and Tom Darnold (Sylvia), of El Paso; grandchildren Jordan, Emily and Ryan Darnold, of Las Cruces; brothers Dan Darnold (Sharon), Paul Darnold (Virginia) and Johnny Darnold (Kathy); and many cherished nephews, nieces, cousins and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at the Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home chapel with elder Michael Gray officiating.
Pallbearers include Joel Darnold, Jim Darnold, Mark Gray, Gerald Matherly, Toby Matherly and Justin Gray.
Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, prior to the service.
The Darnold family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral arrangements.
