1930 - 2010 Obituary Condolences
ichard "Dick" Clinton La Brecque passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010, in Twin Falls, Idaho. Dick was born in Groveton, N.H., on Oct. 29, 1930. He married the love of his life, Catherine (Cathy) Bardwell, Nov. 8, 1952, while serving in the United States Marine Corps. After his discharge from the Marines, he returned to New Hampshire, where he trained as an electronic technician and later accepted a position with Raytheon Corp., where he worked on a number of defense projects until his retirement in 1991. He was proudest of the years he spent as quality a control engineer for the Patriot Missile System.
Dick, Cathy and their five children moved to Alamogordo in 1964. They lived here from 1964 until 2006 when they moved to Twin Falls, Idaho. Dick and Cathy also spent four years in Germany while Dick oversaw the installation of Patriot Missile Systems there. During this time, they traveled extensively throughout Europe; it was the best time of their lives.
Dick loved to hunt and fish and helped teach hunter's safety for several years. Dick enjoyed camping with his family in the mountains near Alamogordo and traveling to destinations all over the United States during their summer vacations. Dick was a loving and devoted husband to Cathy, who lost her long battle with Alzheimer's disease Oct. 11, 2009.
Dick is survived by two brothers, Robert La Brecque and John La Brecque, in New Hampshire; three sons, Richard La Brecque, of Bonderant, Wyo., and his wife, Valerie, Douglas La Brecque, of Sparks, Nev., and his wife, Marge, David La Brecque, of Noblesville, Ind., and his wife, Jana; two daughters, Sharon Smith, of Jerome, Idaho, and her husband, Randy, and Linda Ross, of Alamogordo; and nine grandchildren, Monica, Paul and Bradley Ross, Colin and Corey Smith, Emily and Dan La Brecque, and Nani and Angel Romero.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy La Brecque; parents Maude and Aime La Brecque; sister Bea Fisk; and brothers William, Edward, Elwood, Ken and Harold La Brecque.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date in Alamogordo. Arrangements are under the direction of White Mortuary "Chapel by the Park" in Twin Falls, Idaho.
