Richard G. "Dick" Warner Obituary
I, retired Chief Master Sgt. Richard ""Dick"" G. Warner, have gone to meet the Lord surrounded by my family on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012.
I was born Oct. 24, 1932, to Harold and Isabelle Warner in Stevens Point, Wisc. I am survived by my lovely wife of 55 years, Lois, and my two loving daughters Linda Shirley and her husband, Eric, and Diane Dale and her husband, Tommy.
I also have three terrific granddaughters, Erika Anderson and her husband, Eric, Zabrina Shirley and Samantha Shirley; one super grandson, Trenton Dale; and two step-grandchildren, Tyrell Dale and Lacy Dale. I am also survived by my mother Isabelle, of the family home; two brothers, Jack and wife, Pauline, and Bruce and wife, Janice; four sisters, Barbara Leper and husband, Bob, Karen Groholski, Sandra Ledvina and husband, Ron, and Peggy Clemens and husband, Bob; and numerous nieces and nephews.
I have been many places during my 30-year military career. Starting in Illinois, I went to Kentucky then to Germany, all Army time. Then Air Force time brought me back to Illinois, then Missouri, Massachusetts, Germany, Ohio, Thailand and finally New Mexico. I also served nine years with civil service in New Mexico. I have enjoyed many years of traveling in our recreation vehicles in which we have seen every state except Hawaii.
Cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations in my name may be made to Alamogordo Cancer Resource Center, 1212 E. Ninth St., Suite E, Alamogordo, NM 88310 or to Grace United Methodist Church Youth Program, 1206 Greenwood Lane, Alamogordo, NM 88310.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mary Taken officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Holloman Air Force Base Steel Talons Honor Guard. The flag cordon will be provided by the Patriot Guard Riders.
The Warner family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation has taken place at PCS.
